Davenport, who was director of the Biological Laboratory at Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island, from 1898-1923, and director and founder of the Department of Experimental Evolution, Carnegie Institution of Washington, at Cold Spring Harbor from 1904-1930. Also includes biographical information on Davenport's father, Amzi Benedict Davenport; letters to MacDowell in reaction to his essay on Charles B. Davenport; photographs of Davenport, L.C.
